Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, has said that contrary to the wide-published report, there is no plan the president will address the country today Monday, May 18.
Adesina made this known through a tweet on Monday, stressing that “none was planned” as being speculated.
We earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari would address Nigerians on a nation-wide broadcast concerning the easing of the lockdown caused by coronavirus.
This was revealed by the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani.
Sani said that in the address fixed for Monday, May 18, President Buhari would decide whether the country would embark on a second phase of the easing of the lockdown.
The media aide, however, said the next moves on the novel coronavirus pandemic will be conveyed to Nigerians during the usual Presidential Task Force briefing on Covid-19.
“No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps,” Adesina said.
