John Mikel Obi branded ‘African Zidane’ by two little girls who are Middlesbrough football fans (video)

Middlesbrough fans showered encomiums on Super Eagles star John Obi Mikel after an impressive performance in their 1-0 away won over Blackburn Rovers over the weekend.

Britt Assombalonga’s lone goal handed the Riverside Stadium outfit maximum points at Ewood Park.

The 31-year-old joined the Championship side on a free transfer earlier this year from Tianjin TEDA where he scored three goals in 31 appearances.

After the match, a lot of Boro’s fans took to social media to express their love for the Nigeria international.

Mikel Obi posted a video of two little girls, who chanted his name after the game saying:

“Beyond adorable ♥️ Cute performance, thank you to these two little stars . So much love and support from our Boro fans for the team and myself ⚽️ #amazing .”

The little girls had recorded a performance praising the former Chelsea man, they called him the African Zidane.

“We’ve got Mikel, John Obi Mikel, I just don’t think you understand, he is the man, the African Zidane, he is John Obi Mikel.”

Another fan said on his Twitter handle (@OffficialZoba): “Middlesbrough fans hailing and chanting praises to Jon Obi Mikel. Something Chelsea fans couldn’t do for over 12+ year. The call him Our African Zidane The call him Our Midfield King.
