Nigerian government says NYSC orientation camps may reopen in next phase of eased lockdown

The Nigerian government has already commenced preparations for the reopening of NYSC orientation camps across the country

The orientation camps were temporarily suspended in March to prevent the spread of coronavirus among corps members.

However, Sani Aliyu the national coordinator of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19, said NYSC orientation camps may be reopened in the next phase of the eased lockdown, The Cable reported.

He made the disclosure at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, August 6.

Aliyu said the NYSC has been advised to begin preparations for possible resumption at camps across the country. “We have advised NYSC to start planning ahead of resumption in future phases, but not within this current phase of the response,” he said.

Aliyu said the COVID-19 task force will work closely with the NYSC to design policies that will enable orientation camps to reopen in the future.
