Super Eagles and Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu has been appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Sports matters to Imo state Governor Chukwuemeka Ihedioha.
The 43-year-old Nwankwo Kanu who began his football career in Imo state got his appointment on Wednesday evening, August 14, at the Government House in Owerri.
In his new role, Kanu Nwankwo is expected to help the Imo state government with his knowledge in football to develop the sports sector.
While getting his appointment from Governor Ihedioha, Kanu Nwankwo presented a Super Eagles jersey to the number one person in Imo state.
Kanu won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others.
He is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.
The ex Arsenal striker made the third-most substitute appearances in Premier League history, appearing from the bench 118 times.
The Gov has announced Kanu Nwankwo as his SSA on Sports.
