Portable explains absence from Tinubu’s pre-inauguration concert, citing payment dispute
Controversial street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has broken his silence and addressed the reason behind his absence from Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pre-inauguration concert.
The concert, held in honor of Tinubu’s upcoming presidency, featured performances by over 40 artists at the M.K. Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Notably, Portable’s name was missing from the list of performers, sparking curiosity among fans and the public, given his previous association with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his past campaign song for Tinubu.
In response to the inquiries, Portable clarified the situation, emphasizing that he had indeed sung a campaign song for Tinubu in the past.
However, he revealed that he decided not to perform at the concert due to financial disagreements.
According to Portable, the artists were being offered a payment of 10 million naira for their performances.
However, he claimed that he was offered only five million naira, which led him to tear the contract sheet in frustration.
Expressing his disappointment, Portable also criticized other artists who had never shown support for Tinubu in the past but were now rushing to sing his praises as he approached the presidency.
