Championship side, Stoke City are set to sign former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel on a one-year-deal.
Earlier this week the 33-year-old told BBC Sport Africa he was open to a return to English football.
The ex-Nigerian international, became a free agent after leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor by mutual consent back in March amid concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic.
Mikel is expected to have his medical next week and will sign a one-year deal with the Potters.
The midfielder, who made 249 Premier League appearances for Chelsea in an 11-year spell, won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the Champions League, and Europa League. He also had a two-year spell at Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda, before joining Championship club Middlesbrough for a brief stint.
