Popular Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, best known as Rema has revealed why he had to forfeit his admission into University of Lagos, UNILAG.

The Afrobeat singer, Rema, in January 2022, took to social media to announce his admission into University of Lagos, UNILAG, however, fans where yet to his stance after he had the admission, until now.

During an interview on Kiss FM, the Holliday crooner revealed that he decided to forgo his admission at the University of Lagos because of the, what seems to be a never-ending ASUU strike.

He stated that he moved on and informed his mother of his decision.

He had earlier revealed that his mother advised him to get a bachelor’s degree because it was important.

“What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag? Lol Mom said I still need to get a degree sigh, oh well see you guys in class!” he tweeted.

According to him, he had planned to partain in part time schooling while he is into his music in the line, however, his plans got ruined after the strike by the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU.

He revealed that he finally chose to focus on his music career and his mother is comfortable with his decision despite her earlier position.
